Bodegas y Vinedos Tamaral

Bodegas y Vinedos Tamaral is a small, ambitious winery in Spain’s Ribera del Duero region.  Founded in 1997, in Padilla del Duero, just outside the historic wine town of Penafiel, Bodegas y Vinedos Tamaral is committed to blending the very best of the region’s traditions with state-of-the-art winemaking techniques and facilities.  They source grapes from their own vineyards in Pesquera del Duero and Padilla del Duero, as well as from old vines from growers on long-term contracts in the village of Banos de Valdearado.

The vineyards are all Tinto Fino, the local clone of tempranillo, of which 30% are over 100 years old and half are at more than 900 meters altitude.  This unique combination of low-yielding old vines and high altitude vineyards give the wines of Bodegas y Vinedos Tamaral great intensity, concentration, and structure.

The Tamaral Rueda 2012 is made from 100 % Verdejo grapes. From century old vineyards in the commune of Nava del Rey, Rueda. The grapes were hand-picked at night to retain freshness and acidity.

The Roble 2011 is made from 100% Tinto Fino(Tempranillo) grapes, and the vineyards are located in Padilla de Duero and Pesquera del Duero, and the yields are less than 5,500 kilos per hectare, and the wine is aged for 4 months in American and French oak.

The Crianza 2009 is made from 100% Tinto Fino(Tempranillo) grapes. The Vineyards are Tamaral’s own, and are situated at an altitude of over 900 meters in Pesquera del Duero. The yields are less than 4,500 kilos per hectare. 14 months in barrel (60% American, 40% French).

The 2008 Reserva is made from 100 % Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes. These old vine (45 to 100 years old)  vineyards are situated at an altitude of over 900 meters in Pesquera del Duero. The yields are less than 3,500 kilos per hectare. 24 months in barrel (60% French, 40% American).

The Tamaral Finca la Mira 2005 is made from 100 % Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes. From 100 year old vineyards situated at an altitude of over 900 meters in Pesquera del Duero. The yields are less than 2,500 kilos per hectare. 24 months in new French barrels (Allier).
