V Madrone

Nestled in the gorgeous Napa Valley just north of St. Helena, V Madrone was established in 2001 by Chris and Pauline Tilley. The Tilleys planted their distinguished 3.25 acre vineyard with cabernet sauvignon in 2002. Featuring red, volcanic, gravelly-loam soils, the wines of V Madrone exude pedigree, silky textures, structure, and elegance.
Winemaker: Chris Dearden

Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, 2009: Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the king of red wines, and the 2009 V Madrone is a prime example. Black fruits, olive wood, and mocha are initial aromas. Satsuma plum, wet limestone, and toasted cedar contribute to the character on the nose and the palate. It has a powerful entry, an intense mid-palate, and an extremely long finish which will enthrall and excite the senses.

Chardonnay, Carneros, 2012: The 2012 V Madrone Carneros Chardonnay is a complete wine, and one that will be both excellent upon release, and will age well for up to 10 years. It possesses exotic and tropical characteristics of mango, pineapple, and pear spice, along with the base fruit of meyer lemon, Crème Brulee, and roasted macadamia nuts. It is light straw in color, and is full bodied and unctuous in the mouth. This wine will pair with the finest meals at any restaurant and will be at home in your home as well. It was initially produced to produce a delicious and classic Burgundian style Chardonnay, but has evolved into the best combination of Napa-Carneros meets Chassagne-Montrachet.

Petite Sirah, Napa Valley, 2012: The 2012 Petite Sirah is a delicious and seamless wine. It is an opaque, purple color, with a deep, dark and black fruit aroma and flavor. The entry is full bodied, round, and lush, with a sweet entry, generous midpalate, and a long finish with medium grained tannins. It is redolent of plum preserves, roasted coffee beans, Belgian chocolate, and wet stones. It has notes of toasted hazelnuts and fresh bread dough. It will open up with decanting or slight aeration. Pair our 2012 Petite Sirah with garlic infused leg of lamb, Portobello risotto with pancetta and Aged Maytag Blue Cheese. This wine is delicious now, but will age well for the next 5-9 years.

Zinfandel Old Vines, Napa Valley, 2012: The 2012 V Madrone Zinfandel Old Vines is a wine of pleasure and hedonistic delight. Deep ruby in color, it entices the nose with a depth of blackberry and raspberry fruits, mocha toffee, roasted walnuts, and warm earth. It has excellent breadth of flavor, combining dark fruit, coffee bean, and a mid-palate and finish that is long and plush. Pair this wine with tri-tip roast, pork loin with a blackberry reduction, or with knife and fork baby back ribs. It will also be an excellent accompaniment to berry preserves over vanilla bean ice cream and most aged, hard cheeses. It will age well for upwards of 10 years.
